Library Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. Help! I can't access the databases from off-campus.

There are several possible solutions to this problem:

1. If you reach the Trinity login page (it will say "Access restricted to current students, faculty, and staff.), enter the same login and password that you use for Moodle, student portal, etc. If you can't remember them, or if what you're using isn't working, call the IT Help Desk at 708-239-4858.

2. If you see an error message instead of the login page (a message you might receive is "This site can't be reached" or "The site took too long to respond")...
    a. If you're at home, check your internet connection and/or another internet browser. Are other websites loading okay? If so, contact the library (708-293-4925 or so we can try to figure out what's going wrong. If it's the weekend, we may not be able to get back to you right away, but we'll do our best to help you fix things and get on with life.
    b. If you're at work, try a different internet browser. If that doesn't work, the settings of your business/school network may not be playing nicely with the system we use to allow you to log in from off-campus. That's a known problem with no known solution.

If you're using ERIC, the good news is that there's a freely available alternative that you can use to get started on your searching:  When you find something there that doesn't have full text available, look for that article when you are able to log in to the databases to see if the library provides access to that article (we just might!).
